How to Design with Canva
(Please Help I'm Struggling More Than I Thought I Would)
Logo's, flyers, powerpoint slides. These are just a few of the things you can design with Canva. If you're struggling to use Canva you can try out one of the other alernatives I talked about in my "Free Design Apps Like Photoshop" article. However, if you like Canva, and just need help getting started, you're in the right place. We're gonna go over a few key features, and talk about how to inspire your first design.
First, Make An Account
This is pretty self explanatory. If you wanna save your projects to look at later, you're gonna need an account. Canva offers the option to login with your Facebook, Google, or Apple Id. But if you're old fashioned, feel free to use your email.
Get Some Inspiration
Inspiration can come from anywhere. What I like to do is listen to my favorite song or look at pictures on Unsplash. Unsplash is a website full of free to use, high resolution images. I like to use them for wallpapers too. They're free to download and really good for getting the creative juices flowing.
Choose a Template
Canva has tons of templates to choose from. You can even just search for what you're looking to design and nine times out of ten they'll have what you're looking for. There's even a filter bar you can use to narrow down your choices. Find the one you think will work best for you and click it to get started.Start Your Main Concept
At this point you should try to get everything together. If you need certain elements or clipart to help you make your design you can find some in the Elements tab on the left side just below Templates. Look for things that relate to your idea and blend in with the vibe you're going for.
Organize Your Design
Organizing your design just means to place your elements together in the fashion that you want. Canva's wide range of utility allows you to group elements together, resize them as you please, and even change the colorway of some elements with just the press of a button. It's important that the design from the template you choose represents what you wanna make of it.
Finalization of All The Things
Once you think your design is in its final stage, feel free to add some finishing touches like adding text or different filters to make your design look like the finsished product you imagine. There are plenty of fonts and photo options to choose from so make sure you take your time to find what's right for you. Once you're finished, just click the download button at the top right of your screen to save your finished product to your device.
Conclusion
Congratulations! You know how to design in Canva. Remember, it's always good to ask for help from others even if you think it's something that should come naturally. Trust me when I say this: graphic design is not one of those things that comes naturally. Even with user friendly apps like Canva, coming up with a way to be creative is still a challenge. But fret not; there are always ways to get the help you need. Thanks for reading and I hope you found this Oddly Entertaining.
